Relationships and God's Intent




 

     Social & Cultural Committee has willingly taken on the responsibility of planning social and cultural activities that encourage and promote Christian fellowship and increased awareness of our diversity (cultural, language, national origin, age,..).  


                   

The following groups fall under the umbrella of the Social & Cultural Committee and are actively supported by the committee as they plan and implement various activities each year.

--Senior Ministries- An arm of the Episcopal Senior Ministries to celebrate the life and contributions of our seniors.  This group also disseminates information from ESM such as monthly newsletter.

--Youth & Family Program
Plans youth and young adult fellowship activities throughout the year like: skating trips, amusement parks, Hallelujah Party/Fiesta, Christmas Show, recruits youth to take part in Diocesan sponsored youth events such as the Annual Cathedral Lock-in, middle and high school retreats.



--Episcopal Church Women

Fundraisers and supports ECW events across the Diocese)
--Mothers Union -An arm of the National Mothers Union, this group supports and takes care of the needs of our mothers; they hold an Annual Mary Sumner's Day (founder) and an Annual Thanksgiving Service to raise funds for their activities.  This group makes monetary donations to women in need as well as makes visits as the need arises.  This group provides the food for the Community Dinner every other month

In addition to supporting the activities of these groups, the SCC also performs the following duties:
--Host an Annual Harvest Thanksgiving Service and Sale to fund its activities.
--Leads the effort to provide refreshments for all Special Services that require refreshments.
--Works with the Evangelism Committee to plan the Annual Community Family Fun Day and New Year's Breakfast.

--Keeps the Church's pantry stocked with paper products for all activities serving food.
--Organizes and implements New Member Welcome Service and Luncheon.
--Plans and implements other social and cultural fellowship activities.
